Q & A with Lucinda Brown

What’s with the name Trillamar?
Trillamar is short for Tri-Lambda Marketing. If you’ve ever seen the 80’s movie Revenge of the Nerds, you can guess what we’re about. Everyone needs a capable team of web nerds in their back pocket.

What’s Webcraft?
Webcraft means combining great design, powerful technology and focused marketing to attract clients and sell through the web.

What is the School of Webcraft?
The School of Webcraft is Trillamar’s video platform for teaching people how to unleash the power of the web. We strive to provide exceptional value to our clients and the best way we know is through customization of Premium WordPress themes. Our videos teach WordPress and related best practices of social media, design, plugins, blogging, security, marketing, ecommerce, search engine optimization, etc.

What’s the best part of working at Trillamar?
The variety of clients – one week it’s an investment bank, the next week it’s a jewelry maker. Plus, I get to choose who I work with.

Who’s your favorite fictional nerd?
Hermione Granger. Yes, she is a bit of a know-it-all, but she’s smart and sassy and very capable.

What’s the best thing about the people you work with?
I work with many brilliant web practitioners worldwide, thanks to all the web communities and collaboration tools linking us together. We can scale to fit the needs of most projects and then scale back down once it’s over. Talk about mean and lean.

What’s your secret to success?
Not just working hard but working smart. Trillamar is a success because all of us have a lot of talent and hustle. To work here, you need a can-do attitude, respect and openness. All of our best successes come from great collaboration with our clients.

What was your first job?
A summer internship as a FORTRAN coder at Siemens in Berlin.

What turns you on creatively, spiritually, or emotionally?
Professionally, I love projects that have a mix of creative and technical challenges. As a working mom, I am proud to be running a business that affords me some work-life balance and I am grateful to the Internet for making it possible. Outside of work, I love etsy because it’s bursting with everyone’s idea of the most brilliant / inspired / fascinating things. Plus, it blends technology and creativity in a very powerful, practical way. I am also a fan of a good walk and good tunes to remove the brain cobwebs and elevate the day into something great.

What is your earliest computing or internet memory?
Playing Ultima III when I was in elementary school. Also, my brothers dialing into a bulletin board system in the early 80′s.
