Premium WordPress themes are a fantastic new way to build a beautiful web site really inexpensively. Check out some of my current faves.
These are all innovative in terms of design, and would be a really strong jumping off point for further customization.
1. gridlocked by Premium Pixels
This one has great support for multimedia – video, audio, stills, slideshows, etc.
2. Brick Mason by Themeforest
Ditto and neat organic / hodgepodge feel
3. Viewfinder by Themeforest
Can quickly give a visitor a sense of what you do if your stuff is visual. Great for food, photography, etc.
4. Foiloway by Themeforest
One of the few non-cluttered sites with a lot going on. The scale is off on the home… might remove the slider or some other components, but use of typography in blog layout is great, as is the thumbnail-centric portfolio view.
5. F0101 by WooThemes
Original design, but still user friendly.
6. Daily Notes by Elegant Themes
Has a simplicity that I feel is vital not to overwhelm the first time visitor. If you work in words (i.e., you’re a writer) this one can really work.
7. U Design by Themeforest
It’s more corporate in feel, but has good “bones”, to use the real estate term.
8. King Size by Themeforest
Powerful use of images and a refreshing left nav. You don’t have to be a photographer to use it. Change the background iamge to convey a high tech “texture” or an earthy one.
9. Delirium by Viva Themes
Feels expensive and is simple
10. Photoshot by Themeforest
Full-featured, another fresh left nav. Don’t have to be a photographer to use it. Could fill the home with quotes from your customers!
