Classic Webcraft clients are hands-on and web experienced and plan to maintain their sites themselves. We love serving this type of client because we love to teach and empower as much as we love to design and build.
Here’s the breakdown of the Classic Webcraft Package:
Let’s discuss your goals for the new website. Every square inch of your home page serves a purpose, and together we link components of your website to roles in your company’s future. We also look at the content you have for the site and how to present it to serve your business goals best. This helps us start to create a vision for the new site and gives us what we need to go theme shopping.
We use Premium WordPress themes as a starting point for design. They are a collection of prefab capabilities that we can customize quickly. Themes already look great on all screen sizes and are a key way we keep our process efficient.
Many clients are at first hesitant to use a theme because they want their site to stand out and be unique. Not to worry. We rarely use a theme twice, and they tend to keep up with the trends in new web site functionality.
When theme shopping, we look for those that highlight what your company does best and send you a list of 3-6 themes we recommend. We discuss, and together we pick the theme that best represents the vision and business goals we identified in the strategy phase.
Home Page Build
First, we install WordPress in a hidden location and start to build your home page. We’ll perform simple customizations on the header, footer and home page. Through text and imagery, the home page will answer these 5 questions*:
- What is this?
- Who is it for?
- What is unique?
- Why should I care?
- Who else uses this?
We’ll also connect up social media. In this step we’ll request feedback and perform 2 rounds of revisions to the home. Once you approve the home, we move to the rest of the site.
* Some clients arrive not knowing the answers to these questions. If this is you, let’s upgrade your package to Custom and spend some extra cycles on Strategy.
Rest of Site Build
In this phase of the project, we perform:
»Image conversion: We’ll convert any images you have (up to 30*) so that they’re optimized for the web. If you have a very image-intensive site, we’d be happy to provide an estimate to convert additional images.
»Email marketing list building: We’ll create an email subscription form inside your new website. If you have a modern email blast service, we can use that. Or, we’ll set you up with free MailChimp and create an automated rss-to-email campaign so that every new blog post you publish goes out automatically to your list.
»SEO Redirects: If you have an existing web site, we’ll create up to 20* redirect rules for search engines. That way, the 20 most important pages and posts in your site maintain their traction with the search engines.
»WordPress best plugins: We’ll install the best of the best to enhance SEO, fight comment and email spam, and monitor traffic through Google analytics.
*We generally include 10 pages + 30 images + 20 posts + 20 SEO redirects in this package. In addition, we perform simple customization onto the header and footer, and minor behavior and layout customization.
For clients who need more content or customization, we’ll create a Custom Development Plan.
Review, Revise & Launch
Upon delivery of the entire site, you review every page and, if necessary, request revisions. We’ll perform a round of revisions. Once you approve the site and pay the remaining fees, we take it live! We launch your site and test all links and interactions, leaving the finished product in your hands.
How To Videos Delivered
As an added bonus, within 5 business days, we’ll deliver 5 custom how-to videos (or up to 25 minutes of footage) detailing how to update and maintain your website. These videos, hosted at trillamar.com, remain for your reference as you take over the maintenance of your site. Of course, if you need help after the workshop or want to include regular maintenance for the long-term, we are always available at an hourly rate.
